Privacy Policy

Effective August 27, 2026. This policy explains how Drive Practice handles information when you use the app locally or choose optional iCloud features.

The short version

Private by design.

Drive Practice has no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs and no cross-app tracking. We do not operate a server that receives your driving records. You can use the app locally without creating an account. iCloud sync and family sharing are optional choices.

Drive Practice (“the App”) is provided by Qijia Liu (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy explains how the App handles information.

Local operation

Information stored on your device

The App stores information you enter or create, including profile names, practice dates and durations, day/night totals, and location coordinates used for daylight calculations. This information is stored in the App’s local database.

If you configure automatic drive detection, the App stores the paired Bluetooth beacon identifier on your device. Motion activity, Bluetooth signals, location, and location-derived speed may be processed to recognize a drive. Motion samples are not saved as driving records.

When qualifying vehicle evidence is detected, the App can start and stop a provisional recording in the background without requiring driver interaction. A notification or Live Activity may report recording status, but no response is required while driving. The completed draft remains on the device for post-drive review until you add it to the practice log or discard it.

Optional Apple services

iCloud sync and sharing

If you enable iCloud sync, driving records—including saved drive coordinates—are stored in your private Apple iCloud/CloudKit database so they can sync across your devices. If you choose to share a driving log, people you invite can view and edit that shared log.

Apple processes iCloud data under Apple’s terms and privacy policy. We do not use CloudKit data for advertising or analytics and do not operate a separate server that receives your log.

Features you choose

Permissions

Depending on the features you choose, the App may request:

  • Location to calculate sunrise and sunset, support the running drive timer, and help confirm movement for optional automatic detection.
  • Motion & Fitness to help recognize automotive activity for optional automatic detection.
  • Bluetooth to detect and configure a compatible in-car beacon.
  • Notifications to report automatic-recording status, provide timer alerts, and request a decision after a detected drive ends. No response is required while driving.
  • iCloud to sync records across your devices and enable sharing when you turn those features on.

You can decline these permissions and continue to use profiles and manual entries. You can change permissions at any time in iOS or iPadOS Settings.

Advertising, analytics, and tracking

The App does not contain third-party advertising or analytics SDKs and does not track you across apps or websites.

You control the record

Retention and deletion

Local records remain until you delete practices or profiles in the App or remove the App from your device. A completed automatically detected draft remains locally pending until you add it to the record or discard it.

If you use iCloud, synced records remain in iCloud until you delete them through the App or manage/remove the App’s iCloud data through Apple’s settings. People with access to a shared log may retain information they previously viewed or copied.

Audience

Children

The App is a general utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through a developer-operated service.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the App or our practices change. We will post the updated policy at this URL and revise the effective date.
